The charism (gift) of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth is ministry to the family. The Sisters work toward the creation of one family in God wherever they live and minister. Recognizing that holy, healthy families are central to the transformation of the world, the Sisters commit themselves and their resources to enhancing the quality of family life through all their ministries
Christine Fitzgerald attended St Joseph's College in Patchogue for Therapeutic Recreation & has worked for the past 15 years with children & adults with Autism & other Intellectual Disabilities. She feels so very blessed to be able to return to the Good Shepherd Youth Group as the new Youth Minister after having been a member of the Youth Group when she was in High School. After volunteering with the Youth Group for a couple of years, she is grateful for the faith that Father Jerry & Tony Bellizzi have put in her to take on this extraordinary role as Good Shepherd's Youth Minister. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the Called, and she will do all she can to listen & respond to God's call.
I am delighted to be a minister here at Good Shepherd. I am beginning my 38th year of ministry in the Diocese and have had the privilege of ministering in various wonderful parishes throughout the Diocese. As soon as I arrived here in August, I encountered a wonderful spirit. Everyone was so welcoming that I immediately felt a part of this special Church community.
Here is some personal background. My Dad is 91 years young. In January my family and I will celebrate the 25th anniversary of my Mom’s entrance into the new life Jesus promises his faithful servants. I have a brother and a sister, both of whom are married. Between the two families, I have five nieces who are the joy of my life.
In looking ahead at Good Shepherd, I would like to encourage an increase in participation in the already established adult activities and prayer groups. Being disciples of Jesus means we are always welcoming people into the community we belong to. We can welcome them into the celebration of Mass on Sunday or one of the small groups that you belong to.
In the year ahead, I hope to introduce a Book Club, classes, and guest speakers. I also will be helping Sister Ellen by speaking with the catechists and parents in the Faith Formation program.
It is my hope that as adults we would take advantage of the opportunities in Adult Faith Formation so that we might grow more deeply in our faith and continue in our discipleship in Christ Jesus.
